Medicar Aponjon

Medica’s 3 Years Celebration

Three years ago when Medica opened its doors to Kolkata, it did so with a promise to bring transparent and affordable healthcare to the city, and stand by its people at the hour of their need. Since then Medica has fulfilled its promise in various ways by not only providing quality healthcare with care and compassion, but also through various CSR activities that have benefitted different sections of the society. The hospital has been spending a substantial sum of money annually on welfare projects like KARMA (for road traffic accident victims), Caddies insurance scheme, Chiranjeevi for school children, Buddha, for benefit of local population of Mukundapur, and various other projects.

At the commencement of three fulfilling years in service of the city and its people, Medica reiterated its commitment towards the society through ‘MEDICAR APONJON’, conceived as an annual event recognising some worthy Kolkatans for their contributions to the society.

For ‘MEDICAR APONJON 2013′, with the help of a panel of eminent Kolkatans, Medica selected 10 stalwarts for their contributions in the fields of Cinema, Theatre, Music, Sports and Journalism, and felicitated them at a ceremony celebrating the hospital’s 3rd Anniversary at GD Birla Sabhaghar on 13th May.

The panel comprised actress Rituparna Sengupta, songster Srikanta Acharya, theatre veteran Manoj Mitra, ex-cricketer and national selector Raju Mukherjee and senior journalists Gautam Bhattacharya and Anindya Sengupta. The panellists chose the nominees from their respective areas of work and handed over the honour on Medica’s behalf.

The 10 nominees – actors Lalita Chaterjee and Bulbul Chowdhury, cricketer Kalyan Mitter and cricket coach Munawar Ali, theatre actors Swapna Mitra and Amar Ghosh, journalists Shankar Chowdhury, Nikhil Bhattacharya and Ranjit Roy, and singer Khokon Mukerjee – were handed over health cards for lifelong free of cost treatment at Medica along with some financial benefits.

The audience was also treated to sublime performances by internationally acclaimed dance troupe Sukalyan De Entourage, singers Srikanta Acharya and Subhomita, and recitation by Bratati Bandopadhyay.
