What is an Anal Fistula? (ফিস্টুলা/ फिस्टुला)

As per a recent study, anal fistula is seen as a common condition with an annual incidence of around 2 per 10,000 people, with a peak incidence between the ages of 30 and 50.

Causes of Anal Fistula

Symptoms of Anal Fistula

Diagnosis:

An anal fistula is typically diagnosed by examining the area around the anus. The doctor can produce drainage from the external opening to determine the depth and direction of the fistula tract. 

Additional tests, such as Anoscopy, are used if the fistula is not visible on the skin’s surface. The doctor may also order an MRI or ultrasound to better define the fistula.

Because there is no medication to treat the condition, surgery is used to treat the fistula.
