Consuming oily, fried foods, not drinking adequate water, having irregular sleep cycles, consuming alcohol and smoking cigarettes, etc., has put Indians at such a risk. Symptoms

Stomach ulcers are associated with a range of symptoms. The severity of the symptoms is determined by the ulcer’s aggressiveness.

A burning sensation or discomfort in the center of your abdomen, between your chest and belly button, is the most prevalent symptom. When your stomach is empty, the discomfort is usually more strong, and it can last anywhere from a few minutes to many hours. Ulcers can also cause the following signs and symptoms:

  • Nausea and vomiting
  • Unexpected weight loss
  • Heartburn
  • Unable to eat due to stomach aches
  • Bloating
  • Acid reflux
  • Anemia
  • Dark stool
  • Bloody vomit

If you have any symptoms of a stomach ulcer, consult your doctor. Even if the discomfort is little, ulcers can progress if not addressed. Ulcers that bleed profusely might be fatal.

It’s estimated that 75% of patients with stomach ulcers don’t show any signs

Causes

Stomach ulcers are commonly caused by Helicobacter pylori (H. pylori) bacteria infection or by the use of nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drugs (NSAIDs) such as ibuprofen and aspirin. These can weaken the stomach’s defenses against the acid it produces to digest food, causing damage to the stomach lining and the formation of an ulcer.

Diagnosis

Your symptoms and the severity of your ulcer will determine your diagnosis and treatment options. Our doctor will examine your medical history, symptoms, and any prescription or over-the-counter medications you’re taking to determine if you have a stomach ulcer. A blood, stool, or breath test may be conducted to rule out H. pylori infection

Treatment

The type of treatment you receive will be determined by the source of your ulcer. The majority of ulcers can be treated with a prescription from your doctor, however surgery may be required in rare circumstances.

It is critical to treat an ulcer as soon as possible. Consult your doctor about a treatment strategy. If your ulcer is actively bleeding, you’ll most likely be admitted to the hospital for endoscopy and IV ulcer medication. A blood transfusion may also be required.
